Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to the Colonels of Curry College this afternoon in non-conference action from Elliot Field.

The Basics

Score: Fitchburg State 0, Curry 4

Records: Fitchburg State (0-5-1, 0-0-1 MASCAC) | Curry (4-1-1, 0-1-0 CCC)

How It Happened

Curry opened the scoring in the 11th minute of action as sophomore Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) settled a feed from senior Nick Sailer (Burbank, Calif.) and deposited a shot inside the far post for his team-leading 11th tally of the year for the 1-0 edge.

The Colonels doubled their margin (2-0) one minute later when junior Giovanni Martins (Brockton, Mass.) struck for his first marker of the 2022 campaign with an assist from Drons.

Following the intermission, Fitchburg State threatened at the 55th minute of play when sophomore Gabriel Teixeira (Lunenburg, Mass.) fired a shot on frame, but Colonels keeper Kyle Tremblay (Methuen, Mass.) turned the shot aside to preserve the 2-0 edge.

Curry tacked on an insurance tally at the 71:05 mark when Martins threaded a pass to Drons, who tucked the ball inside the near post for his second goal of the contest for the 3-1 advantage. The Colonels capped the scoring in the 85th minute of play with senior Richard Savage (Rye, N.H.) finding the back of the net for his second marker of the year, resulting in the 4-0 final.
