Football Falls Short to Bridgewater
BRIDGEWATER, MA: Fitchburg State football fell short this afternoon to Bridgewater State in conference action.
THE BASICS:
- Date: 11/2/24
- Score: Bridgewater 17, Fitchburg 9
- Records: Bridgewater (3-5, 3-4 MASCAC), Fitchburg (2-6, 1-6 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jonah Costa (E. Providence, RI) got the scoring started at 4:38 in the first quarter on a 39-yard field goal, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead.
- Bridgewater would then drive the field at the start of the second quarter, going 12 plays for 62 yards. The drive was capped off by Mateo Arellano catching a 10-yard pass from Shamus Whiting. The Falcons would regain the lead with 5:39 left in the half on a Matthew Aguirre (Laredo, TX) 4-yard rush that finished a 14-play, 70-yard drive. The Bears would get another shot at points with just nine seconds remaining. Shane Drake would put them up one at 10-9 going into the half after hitting a field goal from 38 yards out.
- The only score in the second half was by Bridgewater with 10:07 left in the fourth quarter. Jeremiah Julmiste would plunge one in form just a yard out, getting the 17-9 final.

- Jordan Cummings (Swampscott, MA) topped all defensive players today with 13 total tackles (8 solo, 5 assisted).
- Andrew Novak (Quincy, MA) finished the game with 4 tackles and an interception.
- Zachary Souza topped the Bears defense with 7 tackles (5 solo, 2 assisted) and came down with an interception.
