Falcons Fall to Owls in Season Finale
Westfield, Mass. – The Fitchburg State football team dropped a 50-0 decision to the Owls of Westfield State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field

How It Happened
Senior running back Shane Clark (Bellows Falls, Vt.) got the Owls off to a fast start as he accounted for all seven plays, as the Owls drove 49-yards for the opening score on a three-yard burst from Clark. Westfield boosted the lead to 14-0 on its next possession as Jordan Smith (Coventry, Conn.) plunged in from one yard out.
The Owls tacked on a safety as Cade Nelson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Dylan Zuerblis (Wethersfield, Conn.) combined on a sack in the end zone.
Ahead 29-0 in the second half, Westfield got a 5- yard TD scramble from quarterback Gabriel Fernandez (Holyoke, Mass.) and added a pair of scores resulting in the 50-0 final.
Inside the Numbers
- Dylan Cosner (Endicott, NY) was 2-for-14 for 18 yards. Elijah Zaire McKnight (Tracy, Calif.) had 46 yards rushing and 13 receiving yards for the Falcons
- Keyshawn McCurdy caught two passes for 15 yards for the Green and Gold
- Pires finished with 145 yards on 8-for-13 with a touchdown for the Owls. Clark added 78 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
- Newcomer Camren Topkin (Ledyard, Conn.) had a solid day on defense for the Green and Gold, he registered 17 total tackles, including 5 solo and 12 assisted stops. Sophomore Cameron Monette (Winchendon, Mass.) was credited with 1.5 sacks and 7 total tackles.
