Ice Hockey Soars Past Greyhounds
Five Falcons find the back of the net
Worcester, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team collected a 5-2 victory over the Greyhounds of Assumption University this evening in non-conference action from the Worcester Ice Center.

How It Happened
Following a scoreless first period, Fitchburg State opened the scoring 2:12 into the middle frame as junior Nicholas Weber (Peoria, AZ) gathered a feed from senior Christian Halbig (Queenstown, NY) and sophomore Alexandre Bauvais (Meudon, France) and deposited a shot into the left side of the net for his first tally of the season for the 1-0 edge.
The Falcons doubled the lead midway through the period when junior Michael Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) buried a shot into the back of the net for his first goal of the 2024-25 campaign with assists from sophomore Isaiah McKinney (Nashua, NH) and senior Oliver Cookson (Sheffield, MA) to make the score 2-0.
The Green and Gold pushed the advantage to 3-0 two minutes later with sophomore Elowan Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France) receiving a pass from classmate Matteo Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France), who potted his second score on the season. Fitchburg State quickly upped the margin just six second later as senior Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) connected on his first marker on the season for 4-0 lead.
In the third period of play, the Falcons secured the victory just 1:15 into the stanza with Bauvais settling a feed from sophomore Jackson Collins (Wake Forest, NC) and E. Orme-Lynch before blasting a shot inside the near post for his first goal of the 2024-25 campaign for the 5-0 margin.
Assumption cut into the deficit with ten minutes remaining in the frame when sophomore Jonathan Surrette (Woburn, MA) converted a power-play marker before freshman Declan Chapman (Douglas, MA) added his first collegiate goal at the 14:44 mark of the third period, resulting in the 5-2 final.
