How It Happened

Plymouth State took a 1-0 edge at the 9:42 mark as senior Anton Friberg (Stockholm, Sweden) headed home a corner kick off the foot of sophomore August Westerholm (Stockholm, Sweden) into the back of the net for his first tally on the year.

Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score in the 15th minute of action with freshman Brandon Gonzalez (Marlborough, Mass.) put a shot on frame, but Panthers keeper Scott Danroth (Edminton, Alberta) turned the shot aside.

The Green and Gold dented the scoreboard late in the first frame when sophomore Gabriel Teixeira (Lunenburg, Mass.) fired a shot into the upper right corner for his team-leading fourth goal to tie the game at 1-1.

Following the break, the Falcons grabbed the advantage at the 71:41 mark when sophomore Prince Banangoy (Fitchburg, Mass.) found the back of the net for his first collegiate tally for the 2-1 margin. The Panthers answered back minutes later though as newcomer Lucas Hollingworth (Akersbega, Sweden) netted his third score on the season to retie the contest at 2-2.

The hosts secured the victory in the 88th minute with sophomore Walter Driscoll (Kittery Point, Maine) received a feed from classmate Sondrie Asheim (Klepp, Norway) off a free kick and deposited a shot into the left side of the net for his fourth tally of the year, resulting in the 3-2 final.
