How It Happened

The University of New England opened the scoring 1:35 into the contest as sophomore Bruno Correia (Peabody, MA) settled a feed from freshman Owen Carter (Dartmouth, MA) and deposited a shot inside the far post for his third tally of the season for the 1-0 edge.

The Nor'easters doubled the advantage two and half minutes late when sophomore Ronan Donaghey (Pelham, NH) fired a shot into the lower left corner for his first score of the 2024 campaign off an assist from newcomer Haukur Karlsson (Gilford, NH) to make the score 2-0. Fitchburg State threatened late in the first half with freshman Jovan Ssebugwawo (Temptleton, MA) put a shot on frame, but UNE keeper Sean McCarthy (Salem, NH) turned the shot aside to preserve the 2-0 margin.

Following the intermission, the Falcons put back-to-back shots on target as senior Elijah Kalombo (Worcester, MA) and sophomore Julian Correa-Estrada (Nashua, NH) blasted shots towards goal, but McCarthy denied both scoring opportunities, resulting in the 2-0 final
