Foster nets two goals for Green and Gold

Fitchburg, MA– The Fitchburg State University Men's Soccer Team registered a 2-1 victory over the Trailblazers of MCLA this morning in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Elliot Field on senior day.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State nearly took the lead in the tenth minute of action as senior Elijah Kalombo (Worcester, MA) put a shot on frame, but MCLA keeper Ryan Taylor (Plattsburgh, NY) turned the shot aside to preserve the 0-0 stalemate.

MCLA's best scoring opportunity of the first half occurred at the 30:23 mark when senior Connor Green (Bolton, MA) fired a shot on target, but Falcon goalkeeper Luke Speers (Collegeville, PA) denied the shot to keep the contest knotted at 0-0 going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Trailblazers opened the scoring in the 54th minute of action with senior Avani Richardson (Amherst, MA) blasted a shot into the upper right corner for her second tally on the season for the 1-0 margin.

The Falcons knotted the score at the 56:31 mark as junior Zachariah Foster (Brockton, MA) converted a penalty kick, putting a shot inside the far post for his second score of the 2024 campaign to make the score 1-1.

The Green and Gold secured the victory in the 78th minute when Foster converted his second penalty kick of the contest, blasting a shot into the right side of the net, resulting in the 2-1 final.

This morning was senior day and the Fitchburg State Men's Soccer team honored seniors #1 Luke Speers, #6 Kenny Chery, #7 Francesco Campione, #9 Elijah Kalombo, #18 Dylan Kaye, #21 Prince Glory Banangoy, #23 Brandt St. Gelais and #27 Brian Doyle prior to the contest for their contributions to the program.
