Ice Hockey Stays Perfect with Victory Over Salem
SALEM, MA: Fitchburg State men's ice hockey took down Salem State this evening in conference action. With the win, the Falcons ice hockey team stays perfect at 4-0 to open up the season.
THE BASICS:
- Date: 11/14/24
- Score: Fitchburg 2, Salem 1
- Records: Fitchburg (4-0, 1-0 MASCAC), Salem (1-3, 1-1 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Falcons struck early in the first period on a power-play goal. Michael Imala (Oak Lawn, IL) notched the first goal 3:44 into the period. He had some help from teammates Trenton Skaggs (Oconomowoc, WI) and Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA).
- The Vikings would knot it up at 1-1 at 13:40 into the first period. Keagan O'Donoghue beat the Falcons Tender to even the score with just over six minutes left in the period. Landyn Greatorex and James Tatro were credited with the assist.
- After a scoreless second period, Fitchburg's Isaiah McKinney (Nashua, NH) would give them the lead back at 9:43 into the third period. This time, Skaggs and Jackson Collins (Wake Forest, NC) found McKinney for the go-ahead score. Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) would shut the Vikings down for the remainder of the game to keep the score at 2-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Soderberg would get the win in net for the Falcons improving to 3-0 on the season after making 32 saves.
- Will Nepveu would suffer the loss for the Vikings, falling to 1-2 on the campaign, after making 43 saves.
