Women's Basketball Falls Short to Blazers
FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State women's basketball team fell to the Blazers of Elms College this afternoon in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:

- Score: Elms 86, Fitchburg 81
- Records: Elms (1-1), Fitchburg (1-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams came out of the gate running and gunning, with both teams scoring opening baskets within the first minute of the contest. Fitchburg would hold the edge 15-14 after the first quarter. The Blazers would find a rhythm in the second to outscore the Falcons 26-21 to take a 30-26 lead into the break. In the second half, Fitchburg came out of the locker room looking to close the gap and regain the lead. After shooting 52.4% from the floor and outscoring Elms 26-19, that goal was achieved. With a 62-59 lead going into the fourth, the teams would battle back and forth with eight ties and nine lead changes. However, Elms would flip the script in the fourth, almost mirroring the Falcons success in the third. The Blazers outscored the Falcons 27-19 to get the victory.
- The Blazers Mary Turco was a force down low that put up 27 points and brought down 13 rebounds, giving her the double-double. Jade Lewis also had the hot hand in big moments, as she finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
- Stephanie Hart (Shirley, MA) continues to put up big numbers for the Falcons. She finished with a team-best 20 points and a game-best 17 rebounds for the double-double. Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA) also had a double-double with 14 points of her own to go with 11 rebounds. Kaelynn Tanner (Lowell, MA) was feeling it today from three, going 3-of-8 and 6-of-13 from the floor for 15 points. Kathryn Hart (Shirley, MA) added 14 points and three rebounds.
