MASCAC Women’s Basketball Pre-Season Poll Announced

Falcons slated to finish sixth in 2022-23 MASCAC Women's Basketball preseason poll

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's basketball team was selected sixth in the 2022-23 MASCAC Women's Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Poll with a total of 11 points as announced by the league office Thursday morning.

The Rams of Framingham State were selected to win the 2022-23 MASCAC Women's Basketball title after garnering six of the seven first place ballots for a total of 36 points to outdistance second place Bridgewater State's total of 36 points, which included the final first place vote.

Next up was Westfield State in the third spot with a total of 25, while Worcester State followed in fourth with 22 points. Sitting in fifth was Salem State with 15 points, while the Falcons of Fitchburg State sit in sixth with 11 points. Rounding out the 2022-23 MASCAC Women's Basketball Pre-Season Poll was MCLA with seven points.

The Fitchburg State women's basketball team opens its 2022-23 season on Thursday, November tenth as they host the Colonels of Curry College in non-conference action, starting at 7:00 PM.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
