Field Hockey Topped By Owls In Non-Conference Action
Jones nets first collegiate tally for Green and Gold
Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team fell 7-2 to Keene State in non-conference action this evening from Elliot Field.

How It Happened
Keene State grabbed the lead in the second minute of action with sophomore Meghan Dalleanes (Londonderry, NH) receiving a feed from senior Irini Stefanakos (Fitchburg, MA) and redirected a shot into the cage for her fifth tally on the season for the 1-0 edge.
Fitchburg State nearly knotted the score minutes later as junior Sophia Yates (Woodstock, VT) fired a shot on frame, but Owls keeper Ciara Gorman (Stratham, NH) turned the shot aside. The visitors pushed the lead to 2-0 at the 7:10 mark when sophomore Grace Seabury (Wakefield, MA) gathered a rebound and tucked the ball inside the near post for her third score of the 2024 campaign.
The Falcons cut the deficit to 2-1 five minutes later when freshman Samantha Jones (Uxbridge, MA) gathered a pass from senior Jessica Morse (Leominster, MA) and tucked a shot inside the far post for her first collegiate goal. Keene State upped the margin to 3-1 at the 13:43 mark with Stefanakos netting her second tally on the year.
The Owls extended the margin to 4-1 in the 18th minute of action when junior Grace Bazin (Westminster, VT) notched her team-leading seventh goal on the season. The Falcons cut into the deficit with just under two minutes remaining in the half as junior Olivia Narkevicius (Phillipston, MA) blasted a shot into the lower left corner for her first score of the 2024 season to make the score 4-2 going into the break.
Following the intermission, Keene State secured the victory at the 40:28 mark with Seabury depositing a shot into the back of the cage for her second goal of the contest, resulting in the 7-2 final.
