Dudley, Mass. – The Fitchburg State field hockey team registered a 4-1 victory over the Bison of Nichols College this evening in non-conference action from Vendetti Field.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring just 1:34 into the contest as freshman Samantha Jones (Uxbridge, MA) fired a shot inside the far post for her sixth tally on the season for the 1-0 edge.

The Falcons doubled the advantage in the 11th minute of action when Jones settled a feed from junior Sophia Yates (Woodstock, VT) and deposited a shot into the right side of the cage for her second marker of the contest to make the score 2-0.

The Green and Gold extended the lead to 3-0 roughly one minute later with senior Alexis Raymond (Chelmsford, MA) receiving a feed from freshman Ashley Willey  (Halfmoon, NY) and finding the back of the cage for her second goal of the 2024 campaign.

Following the intermission, Fitchburg State pushed the lead to 4-0 at the 37:09 mark as senior Autumn Tibbetts (Lunenburg, MA) potted her third score on the year. Nichols answered at the 46:54 mark when sophomore McKenzie Guertin (Burrillville, RI) received a pass from senior Callie Worthington (Stafford Springs, CT) and put a shot into the left side of the cage for her second marker of the season, resulting in the 4-1 final.
