MASCAC Preseason Field Hockey Poll Announced

Falcons collect 11 points to place fourth overall

Fitchburg, Mass: The Fitchburg State field hockey team was recently ranked fourth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Preseason Coaches Poll as voted upon by the league's coaches.

The defending MASCAC regular season and post season champions of Worcester State University have been picked to hoist the league trophy as the MASCAC announced the 2024 Field Hockey Preseason Poll on Wednesday. The Lancers received four of six possible first-place votes to top the poll with 24 points.

Westfield State garnered the second spot in the results, receiving the two remaining first place nods for a total of 22 points. Framingham State earned third place with 17 points, while the Falcons of Fitchburg State followed in the fourth slot with 11 points.   

Rounding out the poll results, Bridgewater State scored fifth with nine points, while Salem State scored sixth with seven points.

Conference play in field hockey will consist of each team meeting twice during the regular season, with the first interleague contests scheduled for September 20th and September 21st. The MASCAC Post-Season Field Hockey Tournament will start on November 5th and conclude with the championship game on November 9th, hosted by the highest remaining seed.

The Fitchburg State University field hockey team will open its 2024 campaign on Saturday, August 31st, as it travels to Colby Sawyer at 1 p.m.
