Falcons Soar At Branwen Smith-King Invitational
Camara qualifies for DIII New England's in the high jump with mark of 1.66 meters
Medford, MA. – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field team finished 11th overall with a total of 16 points at the 2024 Branwen Smith-King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University at the Gantcher Sports & Convocation Center this afternoon.

How It Happened
Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) paved the way for the Green and Gold, placing second overall in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.66 meters as well as finishing 17th in the 200 meter with a time of 29.27 seconds. Junior Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, MN) was also strong for the Falcons, placing third in the shotput (10.58m) and ninth in the weight throw (11.91m).
Sophomore Skye Goba (Norton, MA) placed eighth with a time of 3:19.76 in the 1000 meter and 20th in the 3000 meter (11:52.17, while in the 60 meter, sophomore Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (7th), classmate Shamya Boulware McKnight (Hartford, CT) (9th) and senior Olivia Kephart (Rutland, MA) (15th) posted times of 9.13, 9.36 and 11.51 seconds.
In the 400 meter, sophomore Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) (1:14.53) and Velez (1:20.30) finished 22nd and 23rd, while freshman Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) (20th), sophomore Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (21st) and sophomore Julia Arena (Shrewsbury, MA) (22nd) turned in times of 2:05.59, 2:13.16 and 2:30.00 in the 600 meter.
In the 200 meter, Boulware McKnight (31.35), Velez (31.72) and DiCato (32.84) placed 28th, 30th and 33rd, while Toste (15th) and senior Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, MA) (16th) posted times of 11.22 and 11.43 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles.
In the field, freshman Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) (8th), Kephart (17th) and Israelson (36th) turned in throws of 12.16m, 10.57m and 8.49m in the weight throw, while in the shotput, Crout (9.60m), Kephart (7.96m) and Israelson (7.63m) finished 11th, 33rd and 38th respectively.
16th, 18th, 19th and 21st respectively in the triple jump, while Velez (25th) Boulware McKnight (26th), DiCato (29th) and Donelan (30th) notched marks of 4.04m, 4.01m, 3.60m and 3.91m in the long jump to round out the top Falcon efforts on the day.
