Camara qualifies for DIII New England's in the high jump and 60 meter hurdles to lead the way for the Green and Gold

Plymouth, NH – The Fitchburg State University women's indoor track & field placed sixth at the 2024 Panther Invitational II with a total of 59 points today, hosted by Plymouth State University at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House.

How It Happened

Senior Makany Camara (Lowell, MA) paced the Falcons, taking top honors in the high jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 1.59 meters, while adding a first place, DIII NE qualifying and meet record time of 9.20 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, while sophomore Skye Goba (Norton, MA) place first overall in the 5000 meter with a time of 19:22.68 in addition to finishing fifth in the 1000 meter with a time of 3:18.93.

In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman Alexis Toste (Dracut, MA) (12th) and senior Erin Donelan (Fitchburg, MA) (16th) turned in times of 11.22 and 12.49 seconds, while sophomores Shamya Boulware McKnight (Hartford, CT) (9.07), Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA) (9.11) and Trishannah Scott (Leominster, MA) (9.33) as well as junior Ephemian Bailey (Maple Grove, MN) (10.40) placed 16th, 17th, 19th and 22nd in the 60 meter dash.

Velez (17th), sophomore Julia Arena (Shrewsbury, MA) (21st) and sophomore Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (22nd) posted times of 31.70, 34.37 and 34.45 seconds in the 200 meter, while in the 400 meter, McKnight (1:09.98), Toste (1:12.45) and Donelan (1:12.90) placed tenth, 15th and 16th respectively.

In the 800 meter, Arena (17th) and newcomer Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) (18th) posted times of 3:04.23 and 3:23.17, while the 4x200 meter relay team of Boulware McKnight, Velez, Camara and sophomore Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) placed third overall with a time of 2:01.18.

In the field, Scott (2nd), DiCato (12th) and Donelan (14th) notched marks of 10.11m, 8.81m and 8.76m in the triple jump, while in the long jump, McKnight (11.31m) and Donelan (3.65m) placed tenth and 21st. In the weight throw, Bailey (7th), Crout (10th), senior Olivia Kephart (Rutland, MA) (11th) and Israelson (17th) posted tosses of 11.76m, 10.53m, 10.29m and 8.47m respectively, while Bailey (10.25m), Crout (9.72m), Israelson (8.05m) and Kephart (7.82m) finished fifth, eighth, 22nd and 23rd in the shot put.

The second 4x200 meter relay team of Crout, Kephart, Israelson and Bailey rounded out the top Falcons efforts on the day, finishing fifth overall with a time of 2:26.11.
