Sardella Named MASCAC Rookie Of The Week

Billerica, Mass. native earns second weekly honor of the season

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State freshman outside hitter Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The first-year forward picks up her second weekly accolade of the 2022 campaign after notching 28 kills, five service aces, 32 digs and one blocking assist over three matches for the Green and Gold. Sardella posted eight kills, two service aces and six digs in a setback to Westfield State on Tuesday before adding a match best 14 kills, one service, 12 digs and one blocking assist in a loss to Framingham State on Saturday.

Stephanie concluded the week by registering six kills, two service aces and 14 digs against Mount Holyoke on Saturday afternoon.

The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team (3-13, 0-5 MASCAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they host the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy for a MASCAC clash, starting at 6:00 PM.
