Mirra Collects MASCAC Player Of The Week

Burlington, Mass. native nets first weekly honor on the year

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State sophomore outside hitter Samantha Mirra (Burlington, Mass.) was recently named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The second-year Falcon notches her first weekly accolade of the season after averaging 10.5 kills and 17.5 digs as well as six service aces, two assists, one solo block and one blocking assist in a 1-1 week for the Green and Gold.

Mirra posted nine kills, one service ace, 11 digs and one blocking assist in a setback to Saint Joseph (CT) on Thursday before adding 12 kills, two assists, five service aces, 24 digs and one solo block in a 3-2 victory against Salem State on Saturday.

The Fitchburg State women's volleyball team (5-19, 2-5 MASCAC) returns to action on Tuesday as they travel to MCLA to take on the Trailblazers in quarterfinal round action of the 2022 MASCAC Women's Volleyball Post-Season Tournament, starting at 6:00 PM.
