Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Owls of Westfield State this morning in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Elliot Field.

How It Happened
Westfield State nearly opened the scoring in the seventh minute of action as senior Morgan Berthiaume (Webster, MA) put a shot on frame, but Falcons' keeper Madison Dawkins (Haverhill, MA) turned the shot aside to preserve the 0-0 deadlock.
The Falcons best scoring opportunity of the first half occurred at the 26:06 mark with junior Delia Fitzgerald (Foxboro, MA) firing a shot on target only to have Owls netminder Julia Robak (Chicopee, MA) deny the shot to keep the contest scoreless going into the break.
Following the intermission, the Owls grabbed the lead at the 68:33 mark with freshman Julianna Lanzillo (Chelmsford, MA) settled a feed from senior Berthiaume and deposited a shot into the left side of the net for her first collegiate marker resulting in the 1-0 final
