Baseball Takes Down Trailblazers in MASCAC Action

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/18/25

- Score: Fitchburg 15, MCLA 9

- Records: Fitchburg (9-12, 3-6 MASCAC), MCLA (5-18, 2-9 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Falcons started the game strong with a five-run top of the first. Joseph Abt (Newbury, MA) brought in the first run of the game after Jacob Hurrell (Haverhill, MA) led the game off with a triple. Adam Koza (Windham, NH) would bring in the next run on a groundout. Maxwell Riordan (Pepperell, MA), Michael Nazzaro (Stoughton, MA), and Cole DuHaime (Warminster, PA) would all bring in one run each to finish the first inning. MCLA would get one back in the bottom of the first on a Roshan Warriar RBI single to right field.

- The Falcons would have another big inning in the top of the second, this time scoring four runs. Nolan Hills (Danvers, MA) continues to deliver for Fitchburg; this time, he hit a two-run double to left center field. Nazzaro and DuHaime would pick up their second RBIs of the game, with Nazzaro bringing in one on a groundout and DuHaime reaching on a double.

- Fitchburg added another in the third and fourth innings. The one run in the third was on a solo home run by Abt. The run in the fourth came in on an RBI single to center field by Matthew Smith (Flanders, NJ).

- The Trailblazers would have a big inning of their own in the bottom of the sixth, which was highlighted by a two-run shot to left field by Chris Vargas.

- The Falcons would go on to score four more runs throughout the remainder of the game, highlighted by a two-run single through the left side by Koza.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Joseph Hartnett (N. Attleboro, MA) got the win (1-5) after going 5 innings with 7 hits allowed, 3 earned runs, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

- Aidan Brett suffered the loss after surrendering 10 hits, 9 earned runs, and one strikeout.

-  Hurrell broke the Falcons' all-time record for triples in a career with his 14th in the first inning.

-  Abt hit his first collegiate home run.
