Men’s Ice Hockey Falls in Season Opener to Babson

FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State men’s ice hockey team fell to the Beavers of Babson College this evening in non-conference action, 4-1.

FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State men's ice hockey team fell to the Beavers of Babson College this evening in non-conference action, 4-1.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/31/25

- Score: Babson 4, Fitchburg 1

- Records: Babson (1-0), Fitchburg (0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Falcons struck first in the first period on a redirected shot by Tye Battipaglia (Chesire, CT). Babson would respond just over a minute later with a goal of their own. Evan Brown would find the back of the net to make it a 1-1 game.

- After a scoreless second period, Babson came out firing on all cylinders in the third. They scored the first of three goals in the first two minutes of the period. Sean Senler gave the Beavers the lead and ultimately the game-winner. Brian Grant would net the second three minutes into the third. The final came in the closing minute on an empty-netter by Ian Driscoll.  

- Nate Mueller got the win (1-0) in net for the Beavers after making some impressive saves (27). Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) suffered the loss (0-1) after making 31 saves and allowing three goals.
