MASCAC Pre-Season Men’s Soccer Poll Announced
Falcons collect 16 points for sixth pick overall
FITCHBURG, Mass. –The Fitchburg State men's soccer team was recently selected sixth overall with a total of 16 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) pre-season men's soccer poll.
Salem State, which claimed regular season title in 2021, captured seven first place votes for 49 points, while Framingham State placed second with a total of 41 points, including two first place ballots.
Bridgewater State was next in third with a total of 38 points, while Worcester State followed in the fourth slot with 27 points. The Trailblazers of MCLA were picked fifth with 22 points, while Fitchburg State slotted in sixth with 16 total points
Tying the Falcons for sixth place was Westfield State with 16 points, while Mass. Maritime Academy rounded out the 2022 MASCAC Men's Soccer Pre-Season Poll in eighth with a total of 14 points.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's oldest Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football in 2013-14.
The Fitchburg State men's soccer team will kick off its 2022 season on Thursday, September 1st as they host the Blazers of Elms College for a non-conference tilt at Elliot Field, starting at 4:00 PM.
