Chargers Race Past Falcons

The Fitchburg State men's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer in non-conference action this evening at Elliot Field.

How It Happened 

After a scoreless first half, Colby-Sawyer broke through for the game's first goal. On a set corner play, midfielder Jadon Baros (Colorado Springs, Colo.) inserted a corner kick that found classmate Gabriel Jacobs for the sophomore's first goal of the season.

The Falcons evened the tilt in the 75th minute. Freshman Lucas Barbosa (Lowell, Mass.) deposited a seeing-eye goal into the top right corner past the Chargers' netminder for the defenders' first collegiate goals.

The Chargers notched the game-winner with just under six minutes to play. From 15 yards out, Baros laced a free kick inside the short corner for the 2-1 advantage.

Inside the Numbers

  • Colby-Sawyer held a 21-20 margin in shots while also finishing with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks
  • Senior Collin Robson (North Billerica, Mass.) turned aside 10 shots for the Falcons in the setback
  • Freshman Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) made ten saves for the Chargers in the victory
