Falcons Place Second At Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite

Fitchburg, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University women's cross country team opened their 2022 slate this afternoon, hosting its annual Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational this morning, placing second overall with 44 points at the Doyle Conservation Center.

How It Happened
Senior Abigail Murphy (Quincy, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons, placing fourth overall with a time of 22:02.6 over the 5K course, while freshman Skye Goba (Norton, Mass.) was next, finishing fifth with a time of 22:06.7.
Junior Maria Burnett (Fitchburg, Mass.) followed in eighth place with a solid time of 22:22.0, while senior Lilah McAndrew (Old Lyme, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 13th place with time of 23:29.1.
Rounding out the top seven finishers for the Green and Gold were newcomer Diana Marquez-Frias (Lowell, Mass.) (23:36.0), sophomore Kathleen Messer (Mason, N.H.) (29:21) and sophomore Marjorie Veliotis (Stoughton, Mass.) (30:47.7) in 14th, 28th and 29th place respectively.

Fitchburg State finished eighth overall at the 2019 Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite with a total of 219 points
UMass Dartmouth won the 2022 Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational with a total of 41 points.
