Two Falcons Collect MASCAC Softball All-Conference Honors

Cahill & Gauvin earn MASCAC Accolades

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University softball team placed two members on the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference Teams as announced by the conference office this afternoon.

Leading the way for the Falcons were senior Sarah Cahill (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Julia Gauvin (Granby, Mass.), who earned MASCAC All-Conference Second Team honors

Cahill notches her second MASCAC All-Conference honors after posting an ERA of 4.47 with a team-leading 101 strikeouts over 109.2 innings pitched, en-route to an overall record of 7-9, while batting .275 with 14 hits, three doubles, four runs scored, 11 RBI and three walks.

Gauvin collects her second MASCAC All-Conference accolades as well after hitting .295 with 33 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, one home run, 21 runs scored, 19 RBI, eight walks and three stolen bases for the Green and Gold.

The MASCAC All-Conference First team was comprised of Olivia Silva and Amelia Blake of Bridgewater State, Brooke Grassia, Camillie Desrochers, Gwendolyn Carpenter and Ally Moran from Framingham State, Jordyn Lummus  of Westfield State, Ab'c'de Patane of Mass. Maritime as well as Abigail Koziol, Bella Gasbarro and Jen Thorburn from Worcester State.

Joining Cahill and Gauvin on the MASCAC Softball All-Conference Second Team were Janet Jolly from Bridgewater State, Makayla Rooney and Talia Duca of Framingham State, Erin Donlan from Mass. Maritime, Lauren Dube, Emma Lanpher, Jacqui Schwalm and Emily Bartlett  of Worcester State State and from Westfield State, Christina Ciampa and Stephanie Scoville.

The Fitchburg State softball team recently concluded its 2023 campaign with an overall record of 15-23 and a 7-7 mark within the MASCAC
