Baseball Topped By Bears In Conference Action
Riordan paces Green & Gold with pair of hits, including a home run
Fitchburg, MA. – The Fitchburg State University Baseball team dropped a tough 6-3 decision to the Bears of Bridgewater State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Riccards Field.

How It Happened
Bridgewater State opened the scoring in the top of third as senior DJ Prampin (Worcester, MA) singled to left center, moved to third on a fielding miscue and crossed the plate on an RBI up the middle from senior Kevin Lindsay (E. Bridgewater, MA) for the 1-0 edge.
The Bears upped the advantage in the top of sixth when senior Scott Emerson (Peabody, MA) and Lindsay collected back-to-back singles, advanced to second an third on a wild pitch before senior Brendan Flaven (Taunton, MA) drove in Emerson with a groundout and junior Joshua Selander (Granby, CT) added a sacrifice fly to plate Lindsay for the 3-0 edge.
The visitors pushed the lead to 4-0 in the top of the seventh with freshman Jamie Luna (Warwick, RI) lacing a ground rule double down the left field line and crossing the plate on an RBI double to left center from Prampin.
Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 4-1 in the bottom of seventh when junior Adam Koza (Windham, NH) singled to right field, moved to second on a single through the left side by senior Cole DuHaime (Warminster, PA) and scored on a RBI double to left field by senior Maxwell Kelly (E. Bridgewater, MA).
The Green and Gold extended the margin to 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth as Hurrell singled through the right side, stole second, moved to third on a fly out and crossed the plate on an RBI double off the bat of junior Adam Koza (Windham, NH).
Bridgewater State extended the lead to 6-1 in the top of the ninth as junior Ryan Flaherty (Duxbury, MA) blasted a solo home run to left, while Emerson added a sacrifice fly that scored senior Phillip Messina (Dunkirk, NY).
The Falcons responded in their half of the ninth with junior Maxwell Riordan (Pepperell, MA) launching a solo shot to left field before DuHaime followed with an RBI single through the left side to drive in Koza, resulting in the 6-3 final.
