Baseball's Comeback End Just Shy to Redhawks
AUBURNDALE, FL: The Fitchburg State baseball team rallied late in this afternoon's game, coming up just short to the Redhawks of La Roche in the RussMatt Tournament by a score of 8-6.
THE BASICS:

- Records: La Roche (2-5), Fitchburg (2-3)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Redhawks plated five of their eight runs early in the game. Their biggest inning came in the fifth when they plated three. Josh Dreyer delivered his second RBI of the day on a double down the right field line. Two other runs came across on a Falcons error, and the last scored on a sacrifice fly.
- The Falcons got two runs back in the top of the seventh, making it a 5-2 game. Matthew Kelly (E. Bridgewater, MA) got the scoring going on a single to right field that brought in one. Nolan Hills (Danvers, MA) continued the inning with a single of his own to center field that would bring in the last run of the inning.
- La Roche would respond with int the bottom half of the seventh with their last three runs of the game. Damon Foster highlighted the inning when he brought in two on a single to left field, making the game 8-2.
- The Falcons continued hitting well into the eighth, scoring another four runs. Jacob Hurrell (Haverhill, MA) brought in three of the four on a bases clearing triple to left center. Joseph Abt (Newbury, MA) would bring in Hurrell on an infield single, getting the final 8-6.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Joseph Stawski (Niantic, CT) suffered the loss (0-1) after finishing four innings, allowing six hits, three earned, and two strikeouts.
- Jamison Rhoades earned the win (1-0) after going six innings, allowing just two hits, no earned, five walks, and fanning four.
- Hits: Fitchburg 10, La Roche 10.
