Baseball Wins in Season Opener Against Anna Maria
LYNN, MA: In a dominant performance to kick off the season, the Fitchburg State Falcons baseball team celebrated a resounding win at Fraser Field on February 28, 2025, defeating the Anna Maria AMCATS 15-0 in a nonconference duel.

From the outset, Fitchburg State seized control of the game, tallying three quick runs in the second inning that dictated the remainder of play. Matthew Kelly (E. Bridgewater, MA) headlined this explosive inning with a 2 RBI single, setting a solid foundation for the Falcons' victory. Overall, notable contributions came from Falcons players like Cole DuHaime (Warminster, PA), Michael Nazzaro (Stoughton, MA), Joseph Abt (Newbury, MA), and Matthew Smith (Flanders, NJ). Kelly topped the stats with three runs batted in, matched by Abt, while Smith and DuHaime were also key contributors with two RBIs.
Joseph Stawski (Niantic, CT), the starting pitcher for the Falcons, delivered a standout performance from the mound, shutting out the AMCATS throughout the game. He was followed by Owen Corcoran (Stafford, VA), who also pitched four scoreless innings, earning the win (1-0) after allowing no hits and striking out four.
