Baseball Sweeps the Trailblazers
NORTH ADAMS, MA: Fitchburg State swept the MCLA Trailblazers in a MASCAC doubleheader this afternoon.
THE BASICS:

- Score: Fitchburg 15, MCLA 1 (Game One), Fitchburg 7, MCLA 1 (Game Two)
- Records: Fitchburg (10-20, 5-8 MASCAC), MCLA (5-21, 2-9 MASCAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED: Game One
- The Falcons scored in every inning but the first in this one. The biggest innings for Fitchburg were the second, sixth, and seventh. The three-run second started with one of Matthew Smith's (Flanders, NJ) three hits on the day. This one came as a double to left center field that brought in one.
- The sixth inning was the biggest for the Falcons, as they scored six runs. Jacob Hurrell (Haverhill, MA) started the inning with a two-run blast to right center field. That home run marked his second in as many games. Cole DuHaime (Warminster, PA) delivered another clutch hit for his team with a two-run single to left field to close out the sixth.
- The seventh would be highlighted by Smith again as he brought in two more on a single to left center. Those two RBIs brought him up to an impressive six for the ball game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Joseph Stawski (Niantic, CT) continued to pitch well and earned the win (2-3). He pitched 6 innings and allowed 7 hits, 1 earned run, and 5 strikeouts.
- Aidan Brett (L, 0-3) suffered the loss for MCLA after pitching 5 innings, surrendering 9 hits, 6 earned runs, and 1 strikeout.
- Smith was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, a sac fly, and 6 RBIs.
- Adam Koza (Windham, MA) stayed hot, going a perfect 4-for-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Game Two
- This one saw less scoring by the Falcons, who did all they needed in the third inning to clinch the sweep. The five-run third inning would get going with another Hurrell two-run homer to right center field. Two batters later, Koza would also go yard, this time to left center, plating another two runs for the Falcons.
- Shane Daly (Rockland, MA) would get the win after pitching 6.1 innings. The win is his first of the season, as he sits at 1-4. During his outing he surrendered six hits, one earned run, and punched out five Trailblazers.
- Joshua Bissaillon got the loss, falling to 1-5 on the season. In five innings, he allowed just four hits, four earned runs, and three strikeouts.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Maxwell Kelly (E. Bridgewater, MA) topped the Falcons with 2 hits.
- Koza was 1-for-3 with the home run.
- Clarence Givhans was 3-for-4 with 3 doubles and 1 RBI.
