WESTFIELD, MA: In an electrifying encounter at the Woodward Center on February 12, 2025, the Westfield State Owls clinched a closely fought victory against the Fitchburg State Falcons men's basketball team, with a final score of 99-95.

Records: Westfield (18-5, 8-2 MASCAC), Fitchburg (5-17, 2-7 MASCAC)

From the outset, the Owls established a dominant presence, jumping to a significant 20-point lead in the first half, highlighted by consistent shooting and sharp defensive strategies. The home team featured standout performances, with Kenneth Rogers leading the charge, scoring 26 points while also securing 19 rebounds. Lid Moreland made critical contributions, with 25 points of his own.

The Falcons, despite trailing 52-37 at halftime, did not fold under the pressure. Jalen Jackson (San Antonio, TX), the game's top scorer with 30 points, spearheaded Fitchburg's comeback efforts. Contributions from Nathaniel Semedo (Bridgewater, MA), who tallied 23 points, and Matthew Drayton (Boston, MA), who finished with 19 points, helped the Falcons keep it a close contest. However, despite a valiant attempt at a resurgence, the Falcons fell short as the game concluded.

Off the bench, Duvall Price's (Lanham, MD) defensive efforts for Fitchburg stood out with notable blocks (2) and assists (3), proving crucial in the Falcons' attempt to close the gap.

Looking ahead, Fitchburg State will face Bridgewater State on February 15 in the Parkinson Gymnasium at noon.
