HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first period, the Falcons were able to break through on a power play, getting them on the board first. Jeremy Maillet (Leominster, MA) would find the back of the net after cleaning up a rebounded shot from Alexandre Bauvais (Meudon, France). Fitchburg would net their second and final goal in the 15th minute of the second period. Elowan Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France) took his first shot after receiving a pass from teammate Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA). The rebounds would find Matteo Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France) skate and pop back out for him to finish the sequence.
- The Corsairs would get one back, making it a 2-1 game in the 17th minute of the second period on two good passes from Michael Mania and Kevin Johnston. Mania would dish the puck out from behind the net for Johnston to deflect it right to Blake Kashark's stick, beating the Falcons tender over his outstretched glove.
- Dartmouth would tie the game up with the only goal in the third period. Fourteen minutes in, Vincent Nicosia would redirect a shot from Johnston right in front of the net.
- The score would remain 2-2 going into overtime, where neither team found the back of the net. Following OT, the shootout began with the Corsairs Ethan Finlason, whose shot was turned away by Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI), the Falcons tender. Elowan would be the first to go for the Falcons as he successfully beat the UMD tender. Tyler Stewart was second for UMass, and he was successful in his attempt to keep them alive. Second for the Falcons was Toivo Kramer (New York, NY), who would again make the shot. The Corsairs needed to make this attempt to continue; Alex Walker was up and made a great effort on his shot but was denied with a great backside stick save by Soderberg.
