Ice Hockey Advances Over Lancers In MASCAC Quarterfinals

Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered a 4-1 victory over the Lancers of Worcester State this evening in quarterfinal round action of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Post-Season Ice Hockey tournament from the Wallace Civic Center.

Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered a 4-1 victory over the Lancers of Worcester State this evening in quarterfinal round action of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Post-Season Ice Hockey tournament from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened

Fitchburg State opened the scoring 4:51 into the first period as sophomore Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) fired a shot into the upper left corner for his tenth marker on the season with assists from senior Jack Johansen (Milford, NH) and sophomore Matteo Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France) for the 1-0 edge.

The Falcons doubled the advantage (2-0) with two and half minutes remaining in the stanza when senior Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) settled a feed from freshman Marcus Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) and sophomore Declan Bronte (Werribee, VIC) and deposited a shot into the left side of the net for his third marker of the 2024-25 campaign.

In the middle frame, the Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-0 with sophomore Alexandre Bauvais (Mendon, France) struck for his fourth tally on the year as Macchioni and Bronte assisted on the play. Worcester State cut the deficit to 3-1 at the 12:42 mark when freshman Cam Quiqley (Quincy, MA) took a pass from senior Christian Phinney (Draper, UT) and sophomore Stirling Nash (Seattle, WA) and put a shot inside the far post for his fourth goal of the season.

In the final period of play, Fitchburg State extended the lead to 4-1 as Bauvais took a pass from Johansen and senior Christian Halbig (Queenstown, MD) and struck for his second marker of the contest,
