Ice Hocey Doubles Up Owls In Non-Conference Action
Saavedra nets first collegiate tally for Green & Gold
Keene, NH. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered a 4-2 victory over the Owls of Keene State this afternoon in non-conference action from the Keene Ice Rink.

How It Happened
Following a scoreless first period, Fitchburg State opened the scoring 3:37 into the middle stanza when sophomore Nicklas Millhorn (Brownstown, MI) collected a feed from junior Jeremy Maillet (Leominster, MA) and senior Samuel Rennick (Salisbury, MA) and fired a shot inside the left post for his seventh tally of the season for the 1-0 edge.
The Falcons doubled the advantage two minutes later as junior Jack Saavedra (Mishawaka, IN) collected a loose puck in front of the net and tucked a shot into the lower right corner for his first collegiate marker as sophomore Elowan Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, FRA) and junior Nicholas Weber (Peoria, AZ) assisted on the play to make the score 2-0.
The Green and Gold pushed the lead to 3-0 midway through the frame with sophomore Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) receiving a feed from Maillet and depositing a shot into the upper left corner for his third score of the 2024-25 campaign.
In the third period of play, Keene State answered 3:39 into the period as sophomore Marcus Chrisafideis (Marlborough, MA) converted a power-play marker, firing a shot into the back of the net for his 14th tally on the year to make the score 3-1.
The Owls cut the deficit to 3-2 with eight minutes remaining in regulation when freshman Michael Boschetto (Framingham, MA) netted his first collegiate score. Fitchburg State secured the victory at the 17:59 mark with Dunn connecting on his second goal of the contest as Maillet and sophomore Declan Bronte (Werribee, VIC) added assists, resulting in the 4-2 final.
