Ice Hockey Collects 4-3 Victory On Senior Day
Macchioni tallies three points for Green & Gold
Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered a 4-3 triumph over the Raiders of Rivier University this evening on senior day in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened
Fitchburg State opened the scoring 6:06 in the first period as freshman Matteo Orme Lynch (Courbevoie, France) settled a feed from classmate Marcus Macchioni (North Kingstown, RI) and buried a shot into the right side of the net for his fourth marker of the season for the 1-0 edge.
The Falcons doubled the margin (2-0) midway through the stanza when sophomore Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) struck for his ninth tally of the 2025 campaign off assists from Macchioni and senior Jack Johansen (Milford, NH).
Rivier cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 17:23 mark when graduate student Cody Rumsey (York, PA) received a pass from classmate Tyler Duderstadt (Sewickley, PA) and senior Jon Tavella (East Longmeadow, MA) and deposited a shot into the back of the net for his fifth marker on the year.
The Green and Gold pushed the advantage to 3-1 roughly one minute later as junior Jeremy Maillet (Leominster, MA) took a feed from Johansen and tucked the puck into the lower left corner for his seventh goal the season
Following a scoreless middle frame, the Raiders answered just 1:06 into the third period with junior Alfred Rotirodi (Chicago, IL) connecting on his second tally of the 2024-25 campaign with assists from senior Nicolas Paolucci (Toronto, ONT) and junior Ryan Carlow (Manchester, NH) to make the score 3-2.
The Falcons upped the lead to 4-2 11:17 into the stanza when Macchioni took a pass from senior Toivo Kramer (New York, NY) and slipped a shot into the left side of the net for his fifth score of the year. Rivier responded four minutes later when Tavella found the back of the net for his fifth goal on the season as Rumsey and senior Cormac Hayes (East Longmeadow, MA) assisted on the play, resulting in the 4-3 final
This evening was senior day and the Fitchburg State Ice Hockey team honored five seniors playing in their final regular season with the seniors being #5 Oliver Cookson, #12 Toivo Kramer, #18 Jack Johansen, #19 Michael Macchioni and #22 Samuel Rennick.
