Ice Hockey Clips Trailblazers In Overtime
Johansen nets game winner for the Green and Gold
Fitchburg, Mass. The Fitchburg State ice hockey team registered a 1-0 overtime victory over the Trailblazers of MCLA this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from the Wallace Civic Center.

How It Happened
With the contest scoreless in the third period, MCLA nearly grabbed the lead 5:32 in the frame with sophomore Luke Rhoss (Monroe, NY) putting a shot on target, but Fitchburg State goaltender Frederick Soderberg (Harrison Township, MI) turned the shot aside to keep the contest deadlocked at 0-0.
Fitchburg State's best scoring opportunity of the stanza occurred two minutes later when senior Oliver Cookson (Byfield, MA) fired a shot that Trailblazers netmider Matthew Gover (Atkinson, NH) denied sending the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, the Falcons secured the victory 46 seconds into the frame with senior Jack Johansen (Milford, NH)) settling a feed from junior Jeremy Maillet (Leominster, MA) and sophomore Hunter Dunn (Douglas, MA) and deposited a shot inside the far post for his second tally on the year, resulting in the 1-0 final.
