Men's Indoor Track Finishes First Overall At YSC Invitational
Bourassa qualifies for All New England's in the weight throw
Hampden, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team placed first overall at the 2025 Yankee Small College Invitational with a total of 135 points today at the Tennis & Track Center at Smith College.

Junior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) paced the Green and Gold, placing first in the weight throw with an All-NE qualifying toss of 16.22 meters and first in shot put with a DIII NE qualifying throw of 14.16 meters, while Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) placed fourth in the shot put with a MASCAC qualifying throw of 12.84 meters.
Freshman Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) was also solid for the Falcons, taking top honors in the long jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 6.74 meters s, while sophomore Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA) place second overall in the long jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 6.56 meters as well as finishing second overall in the 60 meter with a MASCAC qualifying time of 7.24 seconds
In the 60 meter hurdles freshman Patrick Shaughnessy (Plymouth, MA) (9,27) (MASCAC qualifier), classmate William McGurl (Billerica, MA) (10.11) (MASCAC qualifier) and newcomer Joseph Imbracsio (North Billerica, MA) (10.28) (MASCAC qualifier) placed fourth, tenth and 11th, while, in the 60 meter, freshman Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) (ninth) and sophomore Matthew Feole (Derry, NH) (28th) posted times of 7.55 and 8.33 seconds.
In the 5000 meter, senior Taban Manyok (Lynn, MA) (15:58.34), freshman Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) (15:59.49) and junior Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) (16:47.47) finished first, second and third respectively to all qualify for the post-season, while in the mile, graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) (third) and senior Joshua Leaffer (North Andover, MA) (seventh) posted times of 5:01.91 and 5:33.57
Madden placed 12th overall in the 400 meter with a time of 58.12 seconds, while in the 600 meter, sophomore Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (fourth) (MASCAC qualifier), sophomore Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) (seventh), (MASCAC qualifier), sophomore Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) (eighth) and sophomore Marckenson Charles (Lowell, MA) (tenth) turned times of 1:30.49, 1:34.50, 1:37.90 and 1:45.66.
In the 800 meter, freshman Brendan Guenard (Andover, MA) (2:14.16) (MASCAC qualifier), sophomore Matth Telson (Everett, MA) (2:14.23) (MASCAC qualifier), senior Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, CT) (2:21.03) and sophomore Matthew Gill (Plymouth, MA) (2:21.18) finished second, third, fifth and sixth respectively, while Burns posted a second place, MASCAC qualifying time of 2:55.99 in the 1000 meter.
In the 200 meter, sophomore Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) (seventh) (MASCAC qualifier), sophomore Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (tenth) and freshman Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) (21st) posted times of 23.87, 24.87 and 27.57 seconds, while
In the field, sophomore John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) finished 14th overall in the weight throw with a toss of 10.07 meters, while Koutsouoa added a seventh place, MASCAC qualifying throw of 11.71 meters in the shot put. Sophomore Tyler Kwamo (Auburn, MA) placed third overall in the high jump with a MASCAC qualifying mark of 1.80 meters.
Rounding out the top Falcons finishers on the day were the 4x200 meter relay team of Madden, Tawiah, Shaughnessy and Cashman with a first-place time of 1:37.22, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Telson, Charles, Elmi and Manyok placed second overall with a time of 3:43.63.
