Men's Indoor Track Excels At Bates "Fresh" Tune Up
Bourassa, Kwamo & Monette qualify for All New England's
Lewiston, ME. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team returned to action today as they competed at the 2025 Bates "Fresh" Tune Up at the Merrill Gymnasium.

Junior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) paced the Green and Gold, placing fourth in the shot put with DIII New England qualifying toss of 14.45 meters and fourth in weight throw with an All-NE qualifying throw of 16.54 meters, while Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) eighth in the shot put with a throw of 12.32 meters and third in the weight throw with an All-NE qualifying toss of 16.54 meters
Sophomore Tyler Kwamo (Auburn, MA) was also solid for the Falcons, taking top honors in the high jump with an All-New England qualifying mark of 1.95 meters as well as finishing first in the triple jump with a mark of 12.97 meters.
In the 60 meter hurdles freshman Patrick Shaughnessy (Plymouth, MA) (9.22) and classmate Joseph Imbracsio (North Billerica, MA) (10.87) placed sixth and 121th, while, in the 60 meter, sophomore Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA) (sixth), classmate Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) (seventh)and sophomore Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (12th) notched times of 7.33, 7.41 and 7.50 seconds respectively.
In the mile, freshman Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) (4:40.31), classmate Brendan Guenard (Andover, MA) (4:55.94) and senior Joshua Leaffer (North Andover, MA) (5:31.31) finished eighth, 11th and 16th overall, while in the 400 meter, sophomore Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) (sixth) and Tawiah (seventh) posted times of 54.22 and 54.88 seconds.
In the 600 meter, sophomore Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (1:30.07) and classmate Jesse Moriello (Plymouth, MA) (1:35.12) placed fifth and seventh, while in the 800 meter, sophomore Matth Telson (Everett, MA) (sixth), classmate Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) (seventh) and Leaffer (tenth) posted times of 2:12.16, 2:18.52 and 2:30.78.
In the 1000 meter, Edwards (eighth), Guenard (tenth), sophomore Joshua Lancaster (Hadley, MA) (12th) and sophomore Matthew Gill (Plymouth, MA) (13th) registered times of 2:46.00, 2:52.22, 2:55.93 and 3:00.01 respectively, while in the 200 meter, Clottier (fifth), Madden (ninth) and Shaughnessy (18th) posted times of 23.91, 24.50 and 25.88 seconds
Graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) turned in a tenth time of 9:56.55 in the 3000 meter, while the 4x400 meter relay team ofAnsah, Moriello, Guenard and senior Taban Manyok (Lynn, MA) finished third overall with a time of 3:43.47.
In the field, sophomore John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) finished ninth overall in the shotput with a throw of 12.01 meters, while Ansah placed third in the long jump with a mark of 6.34 meters. In the triple jump, newcomer Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) placed second overall with a mark of 12.31 meters.
