Men's Indoor Track Opens 2024-25 Campaign At Springfield College Season Opener
Monette and Bourassa qualify for DIII NE's
Springfield, MA. – The Fitchburg State University men's outdoor track & field team placed fourth overall with a total of 77 points at the 2024 Springfield College Season Opener from the Springfield College Field House.

Senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, placing second overall in the weight throw (DIII NE qualifier) and fifth in the shot put with marks of 15.99 meters and 12.87 meters, while junior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) finished third in the weight throw (DIII NE qualifier) and first in the shot put (DIII NE qualifier) with a with tosses of 15.83 meters and 14.51 meters.
In the mile, senior Taban Manyok (Lynn, MA) (4:33.11) and freshman Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) (4:42.29) finished second and seventh, while newcomer Brendan Guenard (Andover, MA) finished ninth in the 400 meter with a time of 56.34 second.
In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman Patrick Shaughnessy (Plymouth, MA) (9.40), classmate William McGurl (Billerica, MA) (10.07) and newcomer Joseph Imbracsio (North Billerica, MA) (11.11.11) placed fifth, sixth and seventh respectively, while in the 60 meter dash, freshman Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) (21st), classmate Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) (27th) and sophomore Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (29th) turned in times of 7.55, 7.66 and 7.73 seconds respectively.
Junior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (5th) and freshman Alexander Parra (Lawrence, MA) (12th) posted times of 1:34.29 and 1:50.10 in the 600 meter, while in the 1000 meter, Guenard, senior Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, CT) and sophomore Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) placed sixth, eighth and ninth with times of 3:01.43, 3:07.16 and 3:08.09.
In the 200 meter, Madden (24th), Tawiah (25th), Shaughnessy (27th) and freshman Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) (30th) turned in times of 25.36, 25.65, 25.95 and 27.59 seconds respectively, while in the 3000 meter, Manyok (9:23.86), junior Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) (9:42,94), graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) (10:06.31) and senior Casey LaCombe (South Hadley, MA) (10:28,55) finished fourth, eighth, 11th and 16th respectively.
In the field, Adamchek placed fifth overall in the long jump with a mark of 6.30 meters, while sophomore John Koutsouros (Birdsboro, PA) placed 19th in the weight throw and 15th in the shotput with tosses of 10.52 meters and 10.95 meters.
Rounding out the top Falcons finishers on the day were 4x400 meter relay team of Cashman, Imbracsio, McGurl and Madigan placed ninth overall with a time of 4:34.60, while the 4000 meter distance relay team of Edwards, Guenard, Madigan and Burns finished second overall with a time of 12:18.96.
