Worcester, Mass. native nets sixth weekly accolade of the season

Fitchburg, Mass. – Fitchburg State senior Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester. Mass.) was recently selected Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

The fourth-year Falcon earned his sixth weekly accolade of the year after placing first overall in the triple jump with a DIII NE qualifying mark of 14.09 meters to set a new Fitchburg State school record, while adding a second place finish in the long jump with a DIII New England qualifying jump of 6.53 meters for the Falcons at the 2023 Lynn Ruddy Invitational on Saturday. Eric currently ranks 27^th in the nation in the triple jump.

The Fitchburg State Men's Indoor Track and Field team returns to action this weekend as select members compete at the 2023 DIII NE Championships at the New Balance Track.
