Boston, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team returned to action this weekend as the Falcons placed 22nd overall with five points at the 2022-23 DIII New England Championship Meet at the New Balance Track.

How It Happened

Senior Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons finishing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.78 meters to earn DIII NE honors, while junior Taban Manyok (Lynn, Mass.) added a 21st place time of 15:32,09 in the 5000 meter.

Junior Shaki Auston (Springfield, Mass.) placed 13th overall in the 60 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.73 seconds, while the distance medley relay team of senior Nathaniel Felix (Worcester, Mass.), sophomore Cristian Bueno Campos (Lawrence, Mass.), classmate Aidan Cattelan (West Hartford, Conn.) and freshman Michael Burns (Worcester, Mass.) turned in a 21st place time of 11:31.50.

Felix continued his strong season, finishing 28th overall in the 60 meter dah with a time of 7.21 seconds, while Manyok notched a personal best time of 8:42.60 with a 16th place finish in the 3000 meter. The 1600 meter relay team of Felix, freshmen Paul Michaelidis (Acton, Mass.) Omar Elmi (Worcester, Mass.) and Nicholas Polanco (Miami, Fla.) posted a season best time of 3:35.30, while the 3200 meter relay team of Bueno Campos, Cattelan, Felix and Manyok finished in 15th place with a season best time of 8:21.32 as Manyok running the anchor at 1:59.07.
