Bourassa and Monette qualify for DIII NE's to lead Green and Gold
Middletown, CT – The Fitchburg State University men's indoor track & field team completed at the 2024 Wesleyan Indoor Invitational at the Bacon Field House this afternoon.

How It Happened
Sophomore Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the way for the Falcons, placing third overall in the shot put with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 13.20 meters as well as finishing third in the weight throw with a DIII NE qualifying toss of 14.72 meters, while junior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) took top honors in the weight throw with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 15.17 meters and ninth in the shot put with a toss of 12.50 meters.
Freshman Tyler Kwamo (Auburn, MA) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing third overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.81 meters, seventh in the triple jump (12.04m) and 20th in the 400 meter (59.78), while senior Eric Shimiyimana (Worcester, MA) placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 12.93 meters.
In the 60 meter, newcomer Jaiden Madden (Lynn, MA) (23rd), classmate Maximus Lajoie (Worcester, MA) (27th) and sophomore Cole Donelan (Fitchburg, MA) (29th) turned in times of 7.80, 8.07 and 8.44 seconds, while Madden (26.12) and Lajoie (26.94) placed 19th and 28th in the 200 meter. In the 400 meter, senior Nathaniel Felix (Worcester, MA) (55.66), classmate Cristian Bueno Campos (Lawrence, MA) (55.90) and freshman Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) (56.32) finished tenth, 15th and 20th respectively, while the 4x400 meter relay team of freshman Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA), Bueno Campos, Felix and Moriello posted a fourth place time of 3:51.53.
Freshman Matt Telson (Everett, MA) (13th), sophomore Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) (19th) and newcomer Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) (26th) posted times of 2:14.20, 2:20.34 and 2:35.62 in the 800 meter, while in the 1000 meter, seniors Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) (2:55.20) and Tyssen LaBombard (Shelburne Falls, MA) (3:02.06) finished sixth and 11th.
Junior Casey LaCombe (South Hadley, MA) placed 13th in the 3000 meter with a time of 10:46.29, while Burns placed second overall in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:18.28.
In the field, Gill placed 11th overall in the pole vault with a mark of 2.30 meters, while in long jump Ansah (6.36m) and Donelan (4.70m) placed third and tenth respectively. In the 60 meter hurdles, Gill posted a ninth place time of 11.96 seconds to round out the top Falcon efforts on the day.
