Men's Outdoor Track Excels At Silfen Invitational

New London, CT. – The Fitchburg State University Men’s Outdoor Track & Field team returned to action this weekend as they competed at the 2025 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College at the Silfen Field & Track.

New London, CT. – The Fitchburg State University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team returned to action this weekend as they competed at the 2025 Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College at the Silfen Field & Track.

Junior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, finishing first in the javelin with an All-New England qualifying throw of 60.82 meters, first in the shot put, second in the hammer and third in the discus with DIII New England qualifying throws of 14.41 meters, 51.45 meters and  43.33 meters, while senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) placed third overall in the hammer throw with a DIII NE qualifying toss of 49.30 meters as well as finishing third in shot put (12.12M), 18th in the discus (34.47M) and 16th in the javelin (33.81M).

In the 10000 meter, junior Michael Burns (Worcester, MA) placed 32nd overall with a time of 34:48.36, while in the 3000 meter steeple chase, sophomore Samuel Edwards (Townsend, MA) (14th) and senior Taban Manyok (Lynn, MA) (3rd), turned in times of 10:42.77 and 10:59.10.

In the 1500 meter, junior Joshua Lancaster (Hadley, MA) (4:38.04), graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) (4:54.61) and senior Joshua Leaffer (North Andover, MA) (5:02.68) placed ninth, 19th and 23rd respectively, while newcomers Joseph Imbracsio (North Billerica, MA) (15th) and William McGurl (Billerica, MA) (16th) turned times of 18.86 and 19.10 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles.

Sophomore Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) turned in a 12th place time of 54.33 seconds in the 400 meter, while in the 100 meter, sophomore Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (20th) and freshman Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) (42nd) with times of 11.76 and 13.32 seconds.

In the 800 meter, junior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (fifth), classmate Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) (23rd) and Leaffer (28th) turned in times of 5:05.67, 2:20.95 and 2:27.77, while freshman Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) (12th), sophomore Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) (20th) and McGurl (21st) posted times of 1:02.08, 1:09.06 and 1:10.88 in the 400 meter hurdles.

Tawiah (24.36) and newcomer Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) (27.55) placed 29th and 46th overall in the 200 meter.

In the field, sophomore John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) registered tosses of 33.92 meters and 11.56 meters in the hammer throw (7th) and shot put (17th), while Anderson added a 37th place effort in the shot put with a toss of 8.69 meters,

In the long jump, sophomore Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA) placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.43 meters.

Rounding out the top efforts for the Green and Gold was sophomore Colin Anderson (South Weymouth, MA), who finished 15th overall in the javelin with a toss of 34.71 meters.
