Men's Soccer Clips Buccaneers In Conference Tilt

Buzzards Bay, MA– The Fitchburg State University Men’s Soccer Team collected a 1-0 victory over the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Clean Harbors Stadium.

Buzzards Bay, MA– The Fitchburg State University Men's Soccer Team collected a 1-0 victory over the Buccaneers of Mass. Maritime Academy this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action from Clean Harbors Stadium.

How It Happened

Mass. Maritime nearly took the lead in the sixth minute of action when sophomore Brody Calvert (Windsor, MA) put a shot on frame, but Fitchburg State keeper Luke Speers (Collegeville, PA) turned the shot aside.

Fitchburg State's best scoring opportunity of the opening stanza occurred at the 36:34 mark as freshman Jovan Ssebugwawo (Templeton, MA) fired a shot on target only to have Buccaneers keeper Kaden Winter (Walpole, MA) deny the shot to preserve the 0-0 stalemate, going into the break.

Following the intermission, the Falcons broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 68th minute of action with sophomore Anthony Oliveira-Dalicandro (Waltham, MA) settling a feed from newcomer Justin Job (Worcester, MA) and burying a shot into the right side of the net for his fifth score on the season to make the score 1-0.

The Buccaneers threatened at the 83:55 mark as junior Harry Cooley (Marshfield, MA) fired a shot that sailed just left of the net as the Green and Gold held on for the 1-0 victory.
