Score: Fitchburg State 2, Nichols 0
Records: Fitchburg State (4-5-2, 0-1-1 MASCAC), Nichols (3-7-0, 0-2-0 CNE)
How It Happened
Nichols nearly grabbed the lead just two minutes into the contest as freshman Lucas Salvador (Ludlow, MA) put a shot on frame, but Fitchburg State keeper Luke Speers (Collegeville, PA) turned the shot aside to preserve the 0-0 stalemate.
The Falcons best scoring opportunity occurred in the tenth minute with freshmen Jovan Ssebugwawo (Templeton, MA) and Joao Pedro Goncalves (Hyannis, MA) registering shots on target only to have Bison keeper Franco Barreto Santana (Leominster, MA) make both saves to keep the contest scoreless going into the break.
Following the intermission, the Green and Gold broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 63rd minute with newcomer Justin Job (Worcester, MA) settling a feed from junior Liam Evans (Marshfield, MA) and burying a shot into the lower left corner for his second tally of the year for the 1-0 edge.
Fitchburg State doubled the advantage two minutes later as Evans found Job again, who proceeded to blast a shot just under the crossbar for his second score of the contest to make the score 2-0. Nichols threatened at the 74:13 mark when sophomore Santos Bonfante (Wellington, FL) lofted a shot towards goal, but Speers was up to the task, resulting in the 2-0 final.
