Men's Soccer Topped By Anchormen In Non-Conference Action
Kalombo nets lone goal for Green and Gold
Providence, RI– The Fitchburg State University Men's Soccer Team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Anchormen of Rhode Island College this morning in non-conference action from Alumni Field.

How It Happened
Rhode Island College opened the scoring at the 4:26 mark as junior Lucas Duquette (Wakefield, RI) settled a feed from senior Anthony Recinos (Providence, RI) and deposited a thot into the upper left corner for his first tally on the season for the 1-0 edge. The Anchormen doubled their advantage (2-0) in the ninth minute of action when Recinos found the back of the net for his second score of the year.
The hosts pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 15:41 mark with junior Daniel Grzybacz (Cumberland, RI) receiving a feed from Recinos and putting a shot into the lower right corner for his first marker of the 2024 campaign.
Fitchburg State dented the scoreboard in the 25th minute as senior Elijah Kalombo (Worcester, MA) fired a shot into the lower left corner for his first marker of the year off an assist from junior Liam Evans Marshfield, MA) to make the soccer 3-1.
Rhode Island College extended the advantage to 5-1 at the 30:14 mark with Grzvacz netting his second score of the contest.
Following the intermission, the Anchormen upped the lead to 6-1 in the 71st minute with junior Sekou Kamara (North Providence, RI) gathered a pass from Recinos and put a shot into the back of the net for his first marker on the year.
