Women's Outdoor Track Places Fifth At 2025 MASCAC Championships

Bridgewater, MA. – The Fitchburg State University Women's Outdoor Track & Field team placed fifth overall at the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Outdoor Track Championships with a total of 57 points, hosted by Bridgewater State.

How It Happened
Freshman Sophia Hepler (Orono, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, taking top honors in the javelin with a DIII New England qualifying toss of 34.45 meters, while placing seventh in the on the hammer throw (32.04M), fifth in the discus (33.64M) and 12th in the shot put (9.18M)
Junior Trishannah Scott (Leominster, MA) was also solid for the Falcons, placing second overall in the triple jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 11.03 meters as well as finishing third in the long jump with a mark of 5.00 meters before adding a sixth place effort in the 200 meter with a time of 28.26 seconds in the 200 meter.
Freshman Sophia Hepler (Orono, ME) was also solid for the Green and Gold, placing third in javelin with a throw of 33.13 meters as well as finishing fifth in the discus (33.64M), 20th in the hammer throw (26.29M), 17th in the shot put (9.02M) and 20th in the hammer throw (26.29M).
In the 10000 meter, junior Skye Goba (Norton, MA) finished second overall with a time 41:41.84, while the 4x100 meter relay team of freshman Arieyana Robinson (Worcester, MA), junior Alanis Velez (Lowell, MA), newcomer Maribelis Alcantara (Salem, MA) and Scott posted a fourth place time of 52.87 seconds.
In the 100 meter, Robinson (seventh) and Alcantara (12th) notched times of 13.68 seconds and 14.12 seconds, while senior Aria DiCato (Fitchburg, MA) placed fifth overall in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.25 seconds.
DiCato finished fifth overall in the 400 meter hurdles with a time 1:14.37, while in the 200 meter, Robinson and sophomore Christina Apolon (Brooklyn, NY) finished seventh and ninth with times of 29.09 and 31.97 seconds.
In the 400 meter hurdles, DiCato placed sixth overall with a time of 1:15.91, while Robinson turned in a seventh place time of 28.80 seconds in the 200 meter. The 4x400 meter relay ream of DiCato, Goba, Robinson and Scott turned in a fifth place time of 4:36.34
In the field, sophomore Taylor Crout (Boise, ID) (3rd), junior Cassandra Israelson (Saugus, MA) (11th) and sophomore Joey Schmidt-Gross (Sudbury, MA) (14th) posted tosses of 36.02, 30.34 and 20.91 meters in the hammer throw, while in the discus, Crout (34.29M), senior Sophia Salamone (Falmouth, ME) (28.91M) and Israelson (22.36M) placed third, seventh and 21st.
In the javelin, Salamone finished eighth with a throw of 22.82 meters, while Crout (10.82M) and Israelson (8.88M) finished fifth and 13th in the shot put.
Rounding out the top Falcon efforts on the day was Velez, who placed tenth in the long jump with a mark of 4.26 meters
