Women’s Soccer Takes Down Blue Jays in Home Opener

FITCHBURG, MA: The Fitchburg State women's soccer team took down non-conference opponent Saint Joseph's (CT) in their home and season opener this evening, 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  In a very evenly matched contest, the Falcons' sophomore Kayla Prisley (Westbrook, CT) scored the lone goal in the contest. Prisley fought to gain possession from a USJ defender just inside the 18 when she let it fly, finishing top shelf into the upper left-hand corner. That goal marks her first of her career.

- Madison Corcoran suffered the loss (0-1) in goal for the Blue Jays after nearly being perfect, with one goal allowed on five shots faced. In the 90 minutes played, she had four saves.

- Madison Dawkins (Haverhill, MA) got the win (1-0) for the Falcons after making two saves and allowing no goals. She was also assisted by Mia Herron (Mendon, MA), who made her first career appearance in goal. She completed the shutout with four saves.
