Women's Volleyball Drops Season Opener To Anchorwomen
Sardella notched team best ten kills for the Green & Gold
North Providence, RI: The Fitchburg State Women's Volleyball team dropped a 3-0, straight set decision to the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College this afternoon in non-conference action from the Murray Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Fitchburg State's offense was paced by senior Stephanie Sardella (Billerica, MA) with a team-best ten kills as well as one service ace, one assist and nine digs, while sophomore setter Mia Vestal (Wilmington, MA) added 16 assists, two service aces and ten digs for the Falcons. Defensively, senior Sydney Nortelus (Cambridge, MA) finished with a team-leading 11 dig.
- For the Anchorwomen, junior Sarina Marines (Cranston, RI) finished with a match best 13 kills, one assist, one service ace, one blocking assist and 17 digs, while junior setter Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, PR) chipped in with a match-leading 23 assists, six service aces and six digs. On the defensive end, junior Carolyn Bailey (Ipswich, MA) registered 15 digs, one kill and three assists.
