Baseball Edged By Brewers In Non-Conference Action
Forbes & Googins collect first hits in a Falcon uniform
Auburndale, FL. – The Fitchburg State University Baseball team dropped a 5-2 decision to the Brewers of Vassar College this morning in non-conference action from Lake Myrtle Field #5 at the 2025 RussMatt Invitational.

How It Happened
Vassar grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as sophomore Noah Stockman (Huntington Beach, CA) doubled down the left field line before senior Bradley Markind (Berwyn, PA) registered a run scoring single to right center that plated Stockman.
The Brewers doubled the advantage (2-0) in the top of the fourth with Stockman drawing a walk, moving to second on a base knock off the bat of Markind, while senior Luke Barrientos (Ridgefield, CT) laced a double to left center to drive in Stockman.
Vassar upped the margin in the top of the fifth when newcomer Dash Edwards (Atlanta, GA) brought in junior Jensen Bergman (Princeton, NJ) with an RBI ground out and senior Marc Milano (Briarcliff Manor, NY) crossed the plate on a wild pitch to make the score 4-0.
Fitchburg State answered in the bottom of the sixth as senior Jacob Hurrell (Haverhill, MA) walked, pinch runner Liam Currier (Charlestown, RI) advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a fielding miscue to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Falcons trimmed the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases on a single from freshman Benjamin Forbes (Ashburnham, MA), while senior Matthew Kelly (East Bridgewater, MA) reached on a fielders' choice and a single from Currier before senior Nolan Hills (Danvers, MA) singled through the left side, scoring Forbes.
The Brewers secured the victory in the top of the ninth when Bergman drove in Barrientos with a sacrifice fly to center field, resulting in the 5-2 final.
