Men's Outdoor Track Shinies At Tufts Sunshine Classic
Bourassa qualifies for DIII NE's in the hammer, discus and shot put
Medford, MA. – The Fitchburg State University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team returned to action today as they competed at the 2025 Tufts Sunshine Classic at the Dussault Track.

Junior Liam Bourassa (Shirley, MA) led the way for the Green and Gold, finishing first in the hammer throw with DIII New England qualifying toss of 51,83 meters, second in the discus and second in the shot put with DIII New England qualifying throws of 43,74 meters, and 14.53 meters, while senior Cameron Monette (Winchendon, MA) placed fourth overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 45.39 meters as well as finishing eighth in discus (36.68), seventh in the shot put (12.72M) and seventh in the javelin (38,72M)).
Sophomore Keenan Ansah (Plymouth, MA) was also solid for the Green and Gold, finishing fifth overall in the long jump with a DIII New England qualifying mark of 6.63 meters
In the 5000 meter, senior Taban Manyok (Lynn, MA) (8th), junior Joshua Lancaster (Hadley, MA) (12th), graduate student Cameron Davis (Gardner, MA) (13th) and junior Omar Elmi (Worcester, MA) (14th) turned in times of 16:39.61, 17:14.05, 17:46.80 and 18:00.80, while newcomer William McGurl (Billerica, MA) (18.73) and classmate Joseph Imbracsio (North Billerica, MA) (19.00) finished tenth and 11th in the 110 meter hurdles.
In the 100 meter, sophomore Derrick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (16th), classmate Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) (19th) and freshman Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) (28th) posted times of 11.69, 11.79 and 13.11 seconds, while Lancaster placed ninth overall in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:31.91.
Sophomore Matth Telson (Everett, MA) and Elmi finished 14th and 18th overall in the 400 meter with times of 54.45 and 55.81 seconds, while in the 800 meter, junior Brady Madigan (Ayer, MA) (14th), freshman Brendan Guenard (Andover, MA) (20th), senior Joshua Leaffer (North Andover, MA) (26th) and sophomore Marckenson Charles (Lowell, MA) (28th) posted times of 2:02.69, 2:06.64, 2:24.01 and 2:26.51.
Sophomore Alvaro Castillo-Clottier Jr (Palmer, MA) turned in a 12th place time of 54.33 seconds in the 400 meter, while in the 100 meter, sophomore Derick Tawiah (Worcester, MA) (20th) and freshman Logan Cashman (Carmel, NY) (42nd) with times of 11.76 and 13.32 seconds.
In the 200 meter, Ansah (22.89), Clottier (23.01 and Tawiah (24.13) placed 15th, 17th and 28th, while freshman Jesse Moriello (Saugus, MA) (11th), Gill (15th) and McGurl (16th) posted times of 59.67, 1:06.10 and 1:08.05 in the 400 meter hurdles.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Gill took top honors with a time of 11:55.31, while Leafer finished third overall with a time of 13:07.13, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Clottier, Tawiah, Ansah and Manyok posted a fourth place time of 3:46.15.
In the field, sophomore John Koutsouoa (Birdsboro, PA) registered tosses of 34.50 meters, 25.44 meters and 11.95 meters in the hammer throw (ninth), discus (19th) and shot put (11th), while sophomore Colin Anderson (South Weymouth, MA) added a fifth place effort in the javelin with a toss of 46.02 meters,
In the long jump, freshman Christopher Adamchek (Carlisle, MA) finished sixth overall with a mark of 6.50 meters.
Rounding out the top efforts for the Green and Gold was sophomore Tyler Kwamo (Auburn, MA), who placed tenth in the high jump with a mark of 1.85 meters, while sophomore Matthew Gill (Ayer, MA) turned in a fifth place mark of 2.90 meters in the pole vault.
