Softball Swept By Colonels In Non-Conference Twin Bill
Sousa leads the way for the Green & Gold with a pair of doubles
Milton, MA. – The Fitchburg State University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests to the Colonels of Curry College this afternoon from the D. Forbes Will Field as the Falcons dropped a 2-1 decision in the opener before falling 3-0 in the nightcap.

How It Happened
Game One
Curry grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third as junior Samantha King (Stafford Springs, CT) and senior Jillian Rogers (East Freetown, MA) walked before sophomore Morgan Barmash (Woburn, MA) doubled to left field, scoring King and Rogers for the 2-0 edge.
Fitchburg State answered in the top of the seventh when freshman Kaleigh Papierski (Webster, MA) singled through the left side and classmate Ariana Baez (Methuen, MA) walked before senior Isabella Sousa (Charlton, MA) laced an RBI double to right center that plated Papierski, but Colonels hurler Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, CA) was able to close the door, resulting in the 2-1 final.

Curry took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth with Rogers doubling to left field, Barmesh drawing a walk before senior Natalia O'Kleasky (Coventry, RI) singled to through the right side to bring in Rogers, while senior Karlie Pontes (Dartmouth, MA) followed with a two run single to right that plated Barmesh and O'Kleasky.
